State patrol removes sixty-five drivers from roads during effort

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed sixty-five impaired drivers from the road during the annual Make It Click campaign surrounding the Memorial Day weekend. The effort ran from May 15th through June 1st.

“The summer travel season is officially underway, and roadways will be busy across the state,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “While our troopers are constantly on patrol to keep Nebraska roads safe, teamwork is paramount with the motoring public as well. Always drive safe and drive sober.”

In addition to the sixty-five arrests for impaired driving, troopers also issued citations for speeding (1,616), including forty-seven citations for speeding at over 100 miles per hour, along with no seat belt (80), improper child restraint (23), open alcohol container (53), minor in possession (23), driving under suspension (85), and failure to move over (11). Troopers also performed 317 motorist assists during the campaign.
