Justices stop at courthouse as a part of summer tour

Members of the Nebraska Supreme Court got a taste of Sherman County on Monday, with six of the seven justices on the high court visiting the county as part of the court’s annual summer tour.

“Welcome to Loup City, otherwise known as the Polish Capital of Nebraska,” said County Clerk Magistrate Janelle Mostek in her opening remarks. Mostek originally welcomed the justices with a Polish greeting and provided a brief history of Loup City’s designation as the state’s Polish capital.

“Thank you for allowing us to stop by the courthouse here in Loup City,” said Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Jeffrey Funke in his opening remarks in the courtroom at the Sherman County Courthouse. “This is truly a beautiful facility.”
