Garner’s story recounts early memories

SHERMAN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Eddie Garner, born in Loup City in May 1913, wrote a short story about his family.

Some of the things that he shared include that his mother, the former Arabell Caddy, lived on a large farm about eight miles southwest of Loup City. Eddie’s father was born in North Carolina; he came to Loup City as an infant. He was a Loup City blacksmith. (Later on in his story, Eddie tells that his father bought a blacksmith shop in Rockville.)
