Sheriff’s office awarded grant

The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office (NDOT HSO) announced that thirty- two law enforcement agencies—including the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office—across the state have received grant funding for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign, which runs from August 21st through September 7th.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiative emphasizes the importance of sober driving and is backed by increased law enforcement presence on Nebraska roadways.

According to NDOT HSO data, law enforcement agencies recorded 8,047 arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) in Nebraska last year.
