Rebels fall short in opener

Arcadia/Loup City found themselves in a defensive battle in their opening game of the season with Alma last Friday. After twenty-four minutes of scoreless football, both teams would find the end zone once in the second half, but a missed two-point conversion was ultimately the difference as the Cardinals handed the Rebels an 8-6 loss.

Neither side gave an inch in the opening half. The two run-heavy offenses entered the third quarter with zero points on the board until, in that penultimate period, Cardinal quarterback Drew Lewis took a snap from thirty- two yards out, ran an option to the near side of the field, and made a toss to running back Banks Hammond.

Hammond made two defenders miss and scampered thirty-two yards into the end zone. With a successful twopoint conversion, Arcadia/ Loup City found themselves trailing 8-0.
