It never hurts to ask

For me, when it comes to writing a newspaper story, one mantra reigns supreme.

Quotes are better than notes.

Had I actually gone to journalism school and learned the ins and outs of reporting, as it should be done, there is a chance that I would have a polished interview style and know exactly what I should and shouldn’t do when talking to someone on the record.
