Junk Jaunt for 2026 is now history: rain, mist, and all.
Speaking of rain, I found these items printed in newspapers from years ago. In October 1891, the Sherman County Times printed an article about some superstitions of the times. For example, in Georgia after a drought, “long marriageable girls are yoked in couples with an ox-yoke on their shoulders, a priest holds the reins, and thus harnessed they wade through rivers, puddles and marshes, praying, screaming, weeping and laughing.” The article goes on to tell about the system the Peruvians used. They would set a black sheep in a field, pour chica (probably a type of drink) over the sheep and give it nothing to eat until rain fell.
