Black Hill Energy understands that volunteer firefighters play a critical role in protecting the communities the utility serves, often responding to emergencies while balancing careers, families, and other responsibilities. Through the Black Hills Corporation Foundation’s Funds for Firefighters program, Black Hills Energy recently lent support to local heroes with resources that help keep communities safe.
This year, the foundation awarded $165,000 through seventy-two grants benefiting volunteer and combination fire departments across Black Hills’ service territory. The grants are expected to positively impact residents in seventy- two communities across seven states.
In Nebraska, twenty- four fire departments received grants totaling $40,000. Among the award recipients was the Loup City Volunteer Fire Department. The Loup City Volunteer Fire Department, one of the only area fire departments to receive funds through the award, received monies for the department’s super vac fan.
