Sherman Reservoir, owned and operated by the Farwell Irrigation District and the Loup Basin Reclamation District, began filling for the season on April 14th.
In an interview last week, General Manager Matthew Lukasiewicz called the year “pretty normal” at the 2,845-acre lake, with flows on the Middle Loup River at or above their seasonal averages.
“With this unprecedented drought that we’ve been in, there are always concerns about the dryness,” he said. “But the river flows are normal or above normal right now, so we don’t really have concerns about pull supplies or losing our diversion.”
