Competing with a Christlike Heart
Competition is a natural part of life. Whether it’s in sports, school, work or even ministry, the drive to win can shape our actions and motives. But as followers of Christ, we’re called to approach competition differently — not for self-glory, but to honor God.
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV), “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” This verse challenges us to give our best effort — not just to win earthly rewards, but to pursue eternal ones. The prize we seek isn’t a trophy, but a life lived faithfully for Christ.
