State patrol to be at state fair

As the Nebraska State Fair kicks off at Fonner Park in Grand Island, the Nebraska State Patrol is on heightened alert to ensure safety throughout the ten-day celebration. With troopers patrolling the grounds and an informational booth available, fairgoers can focus on enjoying the festivities while staying secure.

The Nebraska State Fair will be highlighting Nebraska’s best for the next ten days. Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol will be working to ensure the event is safe for everyone in attendance. The fair began Friday and will run through Labor Day, September 1st, at Fonner Park in Grand Island.

“The Nebraska State Fair is an exciting time for many Nebraskans,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Our goal is to keep the event safe for all fairgoers. Whether you’re there for the food, livestock shows, rides, concerts, or other great events, troopers will be on patrol and ready to provide help to anyone in need.”

The Nebraska State Patrol will have a booth inside the Pinnacle Bank Expo Building where fairgoers can learn about the agency and even apply to become a trooper. In addition to the NSP booth, troopers and investigators will also patrol the fairgrounds to keep patrons safe. Troopers will work in a variety of ways throughout the fair, using bicycles and all-terrain vehicles.
