SHERMAN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Barber shops were in the news often in Sherman County’s early years. In late January 1900, A. M. Bennett’s barber store escaped any damage from a fire that broke out at 4:30 a.m. even though it was only two feet from the burning structures.
The goods in Henry Dolling’s shoe store were badly damaged; Thomas Inks reported about $1,000 in damages; Peter Slobodny about $1,400 in damages; and Henry Dolling about $400 in damages.
