Through the first seven months of the year, tourism in Sherman County appears to have hit a high note.
Recently, the Nebraska Department of Revenue issued final figures for the amount of lodging tax remitted to Nebraska counties in July. The data points to the fact that, in Sherman County, both the summer months and 2025 overall, have been strong periods for the local tourism industry.
According to the Nebraska Department of Revenue, through July, the state has remitted $8,439.58 to Sherman County from the county’s lodging tax. The State of Nebraska imposes a one-percent lodging tax on accommodations, while Sherman County currently maintains a four percent tax. The Nebraska Department of Revenue holds back a small administrative fee from the total remitted from the state to the counties.
