Loup City was home to numerous businesses

Have you heard about the person who was horseback riding and their horse became unmanageable and tried to demolish the only barber pole in Loup City by running it over? In July 1888 such was the case for a lady equestrienne reported in the Sherman County Times. Do you suppose the lady was embarrassed?

Or how about the tall man who pushed his knee through a large glass in the door of one of the Loup City barbershops? That happened in October 1901.
