Mobile transformer still powering community
A power outage caused by transformer issues at a Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) substation left much of Loup City without electricity throughout much of the day on Thursday, December 12th. The outage, caused by an internal component failure at the substation, reportedly began with surging at the substation in the early morning hours, causing lights to flare and dim throughout the municipality and setting off an alarm at the substation.
“I actually was awake, and that’s what I saw happen,” said Loup City Mayor Laura Hart during an interview last week. “I actually wondered, ‘Is this an isolated incident? Is this just me or is it the community?’
