A recently approved federal funding award will, once signed into law, provide $415,000 for equipment upgrades at the Region 26 Communications Center to support fire, rescue, and law enforcement emergency communications serving Sherman County and surrounding areas.
Region 26 entails in Sherman, Greeley, Thomas, Blaine, Loup, Garfield, Wheeler, and Valley counties.
United States Sen. Deb Fischer announced the funding last week as part of forty-eight million dollars secured for Nebraska law enforcement, water infrastructure, and research institutions through three federal appropriations bills. The legislation has been sent to the president to be signed into law.
