County Republican Party plans convention

The Sherman County Republican Convention will be held on March 24, 2026 at the Loup City Community Center beginning with the convention at 6:00 p.m., followed by a forum of local office candidates (city council, county commissioner, board of education, etc) at 7:00 p.m.

During the 2025 legislative session, the Nebraska Unicameral passed LB 521, which amended and eliminated certain provisions in the Nebraska Election Act. These changes removed election commissioners and county clerks from the delegate registration and credentialing process for county political party conventions.

As a result, the NEGOP State Central Committee amended its Party Constitution to allow the state party to directly manage delegate registration. Sherman County’s party is now responsible for credentialing and seating all delegates to the county convention. Delegates must be a registered voter, registered as a Republican that resides in Sherman County.
