Sherman Dam Road at Sherman Reservoir will be periodically closed from 791st Road to 792nd Road over the next week or two as the dam undergoes preventative maintenance.

Workers with GC Contracting, overseen and contracted by Farwell Irrigation District, are pouring concrete on the face of the dam to create an impermeable surface to prevent seepage and surface degradation.

“We’re trying something different for longevity,” said Farwell Irrigation District Manager Matt Lukasiewicz of the project on Monday. “What we’re doing is pouring concrete on the face of the dam from where we poured some existing concrete years ago, all the way up to full pool [elevation] and all the way across the dam.”
