The nonincumbent filing deadline for the statewide primary election was March 2nd at 5:00 p.m. According to filing information current as of Monday afternoon, two local primary races will take place in Sherman County, In the race to represent District 1 on the Sherman County Board of Commissioners, Scott Mroczek has filed to challenge incumbent Tom Bandur on the Republican ballot. In District 2, incumbent Kenny Kaslon will face off with Darnell Janulewicz on the Republican ticket.
A primary will also take place for the District 41 seat in the nonpartisan state legislature— which represents Wheeler, Boone, Valley, Greeley, Sherman, and Howard counties, plus parts of Buffalo and Hall counties. In that race, three candidates had filed as of Monday afternoon: Jacob W. Sikes of Riverdale, Joe Johnson of Kearney, and Jeremy Heneger of Cairo.
Fred Meyer, current senator for the 41st District, endorsed Johnson on Monday.
