Last month, for the third time in four years, Loup City’s water made its way to Washington, D.C. to compete to be named America’s best water in the National Rural Water Association’s (NRWA) Great American Water Taste Test. For the third time in as many years, it came shy of the top five.
“We didn’t make the finals,” said Loup City Public Works Director Kevin Holcomb during an interview on Monday. “But three of the last four years, Nebraska’s water has come from us.”
The Great American Water Taste Test was held during the NRWA’s 2026 Rural Water Rally on the first week in February. Clinton, North Carolina won the contest.
