The Polish Heritage Center in Ashton hosted a kolache-making class April 18th at St. Francis Hall, drawing eightysix participants for a lesson in the traditional pastry.
The class was led by board members Theresa Jorgensen and Rita Czaplewski, who guided attendees through techniques used in several kolache recipes. Participants had the opportunity to learn preparation methods and ask questions about tips and tricks for perfecting the fruit-filled rolls.
Attendees were served a light midmorning snack before the class began. While the kolaches baked, participants toured the Polish Heritage Museum and were later treated to lunch featuring Maschka’s hot dogs. Guests were also lined up to purchase kolaches prepared by Phyllis Piechota, Bryan Robinson and Theresa Robinson, Jordan Bottolfson, and Sandi Mudloff, along with fresh batches made during the class. The event highlighted the continued interest in preserving and sharing Polish baking traditions within the community. The event was made possible by donations from the center’s membership.
