State patrol makes arrests during special enforcement

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed twenty impaired drivers from the road during a special enforcement effort last weekend. The Put the Phone Away or Pay campaign coincides with Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

“The summer travel season is coming up soon, so it’s imperative that drivers get into the safe driving mindset,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Before you get in the vehicle, make a commitment to put your phone down and avoid distractions.

The moment it takes to look at your phone while driving may be the difference between a safe trip and roadway tragedy.”
