Michael C. Hegarty, 83, of Kearney, died on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center. Graveside services and burial will be on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at the Omaha National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided. There will be no visitation. Michael was born on February 15, 1943 in Loup City, to John L. and Rose M. (Haynes) Hegarty. He attended and graduated from Loup City High School. He joined the United States Navy after high school and served during the Vietnam War.

Mike spent many years in food and beverage service and enjoyed playing golf for recreation.

Michael is survived by his son, Mark McLeod (Brenda) of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Joe Hegarty (Connie) of Leesburg, Florida, sister Jean Rine of Beloit, Wisconsin, and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul; two brothers, John Jr. and David; and two sisters, Ann and Rose.
