Charlie was born in Dannevirke on October 19, 1943, to Cyrilum and Mary (Skorniak) Skorupa. On April 10, 1964, he was united in marriage to Maria Hahn, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, where Charlie was stationed while in the service.
Upon Charlie’s discharge, they moved to the United States and they had a convalidation marriage ceremony at St. Mary’s in Grand Island. They made Grand Island their home where Charlie was a longtime employee of Jerry’s Sheet Metal.
Charlie enjoyed buying and selling antiques, baking, yard work, genealogy and attending horse races. He was an animal lover and took in many homeless kittens. Charlie was a member of the Polish Heritage Center and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Left to cherish his memory include his sister, Janet Woitalewicz; brother-in-law, Ernst Hahn; five nieces, Sue (Jim) Rademacher, Cindy Layman, Sandi (John) Mudloff, Chris (Neal) Dethlefs, and Jeri Mc-Donald; and many great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria Skorupa; brothersin- law, Melvin Woitalewicz, Thomas Hahn and Karl Hahn; sister-in-law, Annie Heichele; and nephew- in-law, Allan Layman.
