Norman left us while resting peacefully with family by his side at his home near Rockville. He was a lifelong resident of Rockville.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with Pastor Ryan Durham officiating.

Pallbearers included C.J. Sherman, Arlen Jorgensen, Bryan Sherman, Russell McNiff, Marshall Sherman, and E.J. Vollmer.

Honorary Pallbearers were Riley McNiff and Rawlin McNiff.

Burial followed at the Verdurette Cemetery at Wiggle Creek. Memorials are suggested to the family for further improvements to the Verdurette Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Condolences for the Sherman family can be left at higginsfuneralhomelc. com.

Norman was born June 5, 1931 at home on the farm in Sherman County, Nebraska to Frank F. and Lena (Snyder) Sherman. He first attended country school near his home, until his family moved to the farm on the river closer to Rockville. He attended and graduated from Ravenna High School, staying with his Snyder grandparents during the week.

Norm met Deana Henrichs on a blind date and they were married January 1, 1952. They made their home on the Sherman farm where they raised six children and worked for seventy years.

Norman is survived by Sandi (Mike) McNiff of Lincoln, Sheri Jorgensen of Hazard, Dee Sherman-Helton of Waco, Texas, N. Dean (Jane) Sherman of Rockville, and Tammie (Craig) Vollmer of Grand Island, sister-in-law Janice Henrichs and brother-in-law John D. Henrichs of Colorado. He was the beloved grandfather of eleven grandchildren, twenty great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deana; son, Mark Sherman; sister, Carol Fredrick; son-in-law, Andy Helton; brother-inlaw, Marvin Henrichs; and sister-in-law, Karen Miller.

To Norman, farming was a way of life as well as an occupation. He loved the land and his livestock and worked very hard at nurturing both, yet was able to teach himself electronics, woodworking, and various other useful skills. He enjoyed spending time with his family but had a passion for ballroom dance. He and Deana were excellent ballroom dancers and taught their children and many others to dance. He taught strong values, dedication to hard work and how to have fun. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
